Town spots

Look up a park or walking route near a US town or city. The Kilamile app doesn't use this list yet.

Every spot is tentative. They come from map data and nobody has walked them, so check that a place is open and safe before you go.

Towns with a spot nearby, by state

Pick a state to see its biggest towns. A short bar means many of its towns have nothing close on the map, which is common in rural states.

How this was made

Towns are from the US Census Bureau's 2020 places and county subdivisions. When a town and a census community share a name, only one is listed. New York City's five boroughs were added by hand, using 2020 census counts.

Spots are named parks, nature reserves, national parks and walking routes in OpenStreetMap, pulled on November 2, 2026. Names and spellings are as mapped. Places like golf courses, schools and museums were filtered out by name, and some will have slipped through.

Nearby means within 6 miles for a town under 10,000 people, 9 miles up to 100,000 and 12 miles above that. Distance is a straight line from the town's center point to the edge of the spot's map box, so 0 mi means the point falls inside the box. A nearby spot can sit across a river or a state line.
